It's common knowledge that eating fruits gives you a healthy skin. Yes, but what people rarely say is,
What fruits or in What quantity?
I was having a discussion during the week and they kept going on and on about strawberries, and their amazing health benefits, and how they should be consuming more of it. I reminded them that this is Nigeria, local things are becoming very expensive, talk more fruits like strawberries, what is the use of taking it once in a while (because of the cost and availability), when you can research about other fruits that you can take and they will give you almost the same results. Fruits that you can eat everyday.
This is going to be a long read.
I thought to write about two or three fruits, because not many people read long articles these days, but decided against it, because this, in my opinion is worth the read.
I have listed below, FRUITS, fruits you can get everywhere in Nigeria ,at close to nothing. Their specific benefits, and how they should be consumed.
So these are some fruits you should consume for a better and healthier looking skin:
1. Oranges:
Daily vitamin C intake is mandatory for a healthier skin, and oranges are a great source of vitamin C. This fruit will keep you hydrated making your skin look plump, and firm. It will also help reduce the signs of ageing.
Eat at least half an orange daily, or pure orange juice.
2. Papaya:
Papaya, rich in vitamin A, C and B, is a naturally moisturizing agent and helps keep your skin soft. It also improves the digestive system and prevent constipation, which in turn will clear up your skin.
The right way to eat this fruit, is including a bowl of it in your breakfast. Researchers have discovered this fruit can also speed up the would healing process.
3. Lemon:
Rich in Vitamin C, helps reduce signs of ageing, hyperpigmentation and scarring. It is a natural bleaching agent, and helps reduce sun damage and tan. This fruit is highly beneficial.
Add a teaspoon of honey to lemon juice water, this should be the first thing you take in the morning.
4. Watermelon:
Rich in fibres and water. This fruit contains 92 percent water and will give you a hydrated, soft and supple skin, it prevents tissue damage in your skin, fine lines and appearance of wrinkles. Contains vitamins C, A, B1, B6.
You should have watermelons in the morning OR have it instead of snacks, as in, replace all those snacks you take, with this fruit.
5. Cuccumber:
The major part of cuccumber is water and it gives a cooling effect, aids in skin whitening, reduce the appearance of fine lines, puffy eyes and dark circles.
You can consume it everyday by just eating it raw, as a snack.
6. Pineapple:
Contains Vitamins A, C, and K. It improves skin texture, reduce sun spots and acne symptoms. Speeds up healing process and removes dead skin cells.
Consume freshly chopped pineapple im the morning as part of your breakfast OR dinner.
7. Mango:
Rich in vitamin A, E and C. It helps reduce acne marks(scars) and appearance of fine lines and it rejuvenates the skin.
Include freshly cut mangoes in your breakfast.
8. Apples:
Packed with vitamin A and C. It fights free radicals and reduces signs of ageing.
Eat everyday with your breakfast. The best way to consume an apple is with it's skin. Wash properly and eat.
You can choose to stick to one of these fruits or include more than one in your diet.
